Instruction is continuous with no quarters, sessions or breaks. New students may start classes at any
time. Payment of fees is due when starting instruction, $ 55.00 per month or $100.00 for two months.
A student may take two classes per week at their own level and any lower level classes on a space
available basis. Beginning students may take one Tuesday class and the Saturday class, if they wish,
although most take one class a week. There is no extra charge for additional classes.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes - - loose pants and shirt are a good way to start. Socks (or dance
slippers) are recommended. A set of four finger cymbals is desirable and may be purchased at the
Belly Dance! shop for a nominal price. No other costume purchases are necessary.
BELLY DANCE! classes are taught as small group lessons for those 16 years and up. And remember,
there is no upper limit. Dance technique and steps are carefully broken down so students can follow
the instruction without intimidation. Also offered and mostly utilized by some advanced students are
personal coaching sessions with one of two well-qualified professional dancers and teachers on a fee
per class basis.
BELLY DANCE! is both a Studio and a Shop. Studio classes are conducted at all levels - - from
introductory basics clear through the intricacies of professional dance. In the shop are all of the fun
accouterments; jewelry, skirts, harem pants, costumes, patterns, CDs, finger cymbals. Choose from
our very affordable student line of costumes up to elegant, hand-beaded professional ensembles, with
many styles and prices in between. The shop is open Saturdays from noon until 4:00 pm and during
class hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our costumer, Carima, is available by phone (925)
634-5924 or in person to answer questions and for special costume requests.
BELLY DANCE is a wonderful entertainment form as well as a dance form. As such, our students
are given the opportunity to perform frequently (strictly optional). Four times per year a “student
night” is held at a restaurant. Here Belly Dance! students perform to live musicians while friends
enjoy the dancing and a fine Middle Eastern meal. Approximately every six to eight weeks
community service performances are given in hospitals. Students are gently encouraged (but definitely
not required) to perform. Bookings for professional performances (no bachelor parties or clubs) are
available when a dancer has obtained the necessary level of proficiency.
BELLY DANCE! fees are on a four-week basis. Generally four classes are taught at each scheduled
class time in a month. If there are five class nights in a month, then a special topic is offered or an
outside teacher is invited to instruct. Usually there is no additional charge for these special functions.
Classes are credited only for vacation, illness and job requirements.
BELLY DANCE! classes are conducted at the studio and are private. Only students and instructors
are permitted in the Studio during instruction. Observers can be disruptive and distracting. Any
classes missed in a week may be made up by attending another regular class that week at the same
level or lower. No childcare is provided.
BELLY DANCE! members work hard at their dance form while enjoying each other’s company. We
can accommodate the student who wants a night out each week and does not want to practice, all the
way to the person aspiring to be booked through the Studio to do private parties or dance in a
restaurant. We are an active Studio of close friends who attend workshops and performances while
supporting and encouraging one another.
Thank you for your interest in Belly Dance! If you have any further questions please contact us and we
will be happy to supply you with more information. We look forward to having you in class.
